On the way there we stopped at the 8 hour point in Muldrow, OK( where Phillip is originally from) and ate dinner with Phillip's sister Kayla her husband Cody, and his son Mason. We had a great time getting to see them and let Mason and Brody play together! Mason was so good with Brody and did great sharing his toys! It was also neat to see the way that Kayla and Cody have done a great job fixing up Phillip's parents house and making it more of their own. ( They are renting that house out from Phillip's parents who live in Searcy).
After leaving their house we drove two more hours to Oklahoma City. We were so excited to be there and to get to see Jamie's and Cal's new house that they just moved into!
Saturday morning we headed to Norman to OU's campus for Jamie's graduation! We were so glad that we got to be there to watch her graduate with her Master's. I can't express enough how proud I am of her and all of her hard work. Here are a few pictures from the graduation.
Phillip helping to save seats.
Jamie walking in with the other thousands of graduates. :)
Brody tired of the ceremony within the first 30 minutes. Overall he did really well, he lasted over an hour.
Cal, Renner ( cousin Stephanie's husband), Phillip, Mom, and Aunt Paula on the other side of Mom.
We went outside for quite a while to let Brody run around and burn some energy.
The graduate and Stephanie after the ceremony was over. Steph and Jamie both live in Oklahoma City, both went to OC and are very close. Their husbands are also best friend's, Jamie met Cal through Stephanie and Renner.
Brody and Poppy.
The parent's and Jamie.
Brody loves his Aunt Jamie.
The whole group that came to Jamie's graduation. Left to right, Renner, Stephanie, Dad, Mom, Cal, Jamie, Me, Phillip, Brody, and Aunt Paula.
I love this family picture. I loved it so much I have it framed in our kitchen.
I am so so proud of my sister! She worked very hard for this special day.
Afterwards we went to eat at the great place! It was fun getting to relax and hang out with Jamie and Cal. Brody fell asleep in the car on the way to the restaurant, so Mom was kind enough to sit in the car with him and let him sleep while we ate. We did get her food to go!
Saturday night we had a party for Jamie at their house and several of their good friend's came over to celebrate.
Sunday morning we went to the church that Jamie and Cal recently started going to. We really enjoyed it and are so glad that they have found a place they like!
Sunday afternoon we went to the Oklahoma City Botanical Gardens in downtown OKC. It was so beautiful! The grounds were amazing to look at and there were several things that Brody was into. They had a really cool fountain and a neat park! We all had a great time!
Phillip, Cal, and Brody.
The men in the family. I love this picture!
Mom and her girls.
This is so sweet.
Haha. Phillip and his brother from another mother Cal thought they would try out different poses. The pictures turned out pretty cool!
Mom and her son's.
Brody and Phillip playing at the park.
The Kiburz family.
The garden's were beautiful! We had a great time.
This was Brody's favorite part, and Poppy's :)
Pure joy on his face! This picture is priceless and warms my heart.
Monday morning we left and drove to Dallas where we stopped and visited with Papa and Mimi Martin for a while. It was so good to get to see them and for them to see Brody. I wish we got to see them more often :(
Brody and Papa playing on the floor!
We left Dallas and drove the two hours to Waco where we stayed until Thursday morning. During our time there we got to visit with old friend's, eat wonderful Mexican food, make trip's to HEB:) (which is the best grocery store ever and I miss it so much!), and just enjoyed being home.
Poppy saved a refrigerator box for Brody to play with. He absolutely loved it!
Brody loved his time at Poppy and Marmie's house.
One night Mom and Dad kept Brody and we went out with our good friend's Rebecca and Michael. Rebecca had her first baby a beautiful girl, Kate Colier in July, and Michael just graduated from Medical school at John's Hopkins. They now live in New York City where Michael is doing his internship at Columbia. I just LOVE my time with them. I wish we lived in the same city, they are two of my favorite people in the world. Also a plus is that Phillip and Michael get along great! We can't wait to visit them soon in New York and meet baby Kate!
Tuesday I drove to Round Rock to meet up with my lifelong friend Emily and meet her sweet little girl Maddie. It was so good to see her and to meet that precious baby girl. Emily is a natural mom, Maddie is a very blessed little girl.
Emily and Rebecca are both friend's that I know will be friend's of mine forever. they both have meant so much to me for such a long time and I enjoy getting to go home and see them.
Me and sweet Maddie! Love those cheeks!
Maddie checking Brody out!
After we came back from Round Rock, Brody took a nap and then we went over to Josh and Lauren Satterfield's home. Lauren just had her third baby, a little boy named Benjamin. He is so precious and I was excited to meet him and get to visit with her. Brody and Jack ( her middle son who is 3) had a lot of fun playing as well. She has been a good friend to me for a long time. Growing up she was always more like an older sister than a friend and as we have gotten older she has become one of my closest friends. She is such a good mother and wife and I always learn so much from her and enjoy being around her!
Wednesday night we went to church at Crestview and really enjoyed getting to visit with so many old friend's there. It was so good to see everyone.
Thursday morning we woke up at 4 a.m. and made the 12 hour trip back to Nashville. Overall Brody did really well on the trip. He slept a lot of the way and was in a good mood most of the time. :)
We were very thankful that we were well enough to be able to travel to Oklahoma for Jamie's graduation. We had such a great week getting to visit with family and good friend's.
