This was taken at the Birmingham mall. Sheree and I took the kid's there to ride the carousel while Brandon and Phillip went to a movie. The Cobia kid's liked it, but Brody cried the whole time!
Saturday night the kid's chowing down on popcorn!
Houston Trip
We didn't get a chance to take a picture together that weekend, so here one from last summer the weekend of my sister Jamie's wedding. Love this girl so much! I am so thankful to not only have her as my cousin, but as one of my best friend's. She means the world to me.
Brody and Maddie. They are three months apart in age. Brody was born in August, and Maddie was born in May.
There's Hunter in the background!
Cousins! Such a special time to have them all together!
Jordan was kind enough to take all three kid's on a walk. This picture is one of my favorites.
We had a great weekend with them and I can't wait to come back this summer to meet baby Audrey!
Florence Trip
In the middle of February, we took a trip to Florence, Alabama to spend the weekend with Mimi Coil, Uncle Keith, Aunt Carole, and Cousin John. We got there on Saturday and watched a couple of John's basketball games. We had a great time and he did great! Uncle Keith was his coach again this year. I saw him play once last year and he has really improved over the past year. We had a great time!
Aunt Carole and Brody. Brody loves his great Aunt Carole!
John was so sweet, he showed Brody how to play games on the Ipad.
The weekend was pretty low key overall which was nice. Phillip, John, and Uncle Keith went to the batting cages Saturday afternoon. While Brody took a nap, Carole and I hung out and we visited with Mimi some. Carole cooked delicious food for us all weekend which was so nice! Sunday we went to church with them, ate lunch, and then went home. After church, Brody started running a temperature and wasn't feeling good. This was the beginning of his first of three ear infections that he had in February and March. In February he also had the 12 hour stomach bug and the croup virus. So needless to say that week was a long week! Besides Brody getting sick, we had a great weekend in Florence. It's so nice to live so close to family! It's always like going home when we go there.
Searcy Trip
At the beginning of March, we headed to Searcy, Arkansas for the weekend to visit Phillip's parents. His sister Kayla and her husband Cody also made plans to come that weekend. We left on Friday morning after much debate over whether we should go or not. Brody woke up Thursday morning with the stomach bug which was over by Friday morning for him, but Phillip woke up with it. So, Phillip being the sweet guy he is and not wanting to disappoint any of his family by canceling their weekend plans, decided that we should go anyway. Keep in mind he could barely get out bed because he was so achy, was having chills, and diarrhea. I told him that we shouldn't go because everyone was going to get sick, but after several minutes of arguing realized it was useless and that it was his family and his choice to make. So I drove five hours with Phillip passed out in the back seat, barely waking up to eat a yogurt parfait at Chick Filia in Jackson, and then to drink a Gatorade in Memphis. It was an interesting trip! I think he learned his lesson because after we left his mom, dad, and sister Kayla all got the stomach bug! Next time we will not be making the trip!Besides Phillip being sick we had a great time. We hung out most of the day Saturday making a trip to Berryhill Park so Brody could get some energy outside playing. Mimma and Aunt Kk went with us to the park and we had a great time!
He loves his Aunt KK. :)
My fearless boy!
I absolutely love this picture of Brody and his Mimma. There isn't a sweeter feeling in the world than knowing that your son has grandparents that love him so much.
Every night when I put him to bed I list off some people that love him, I always list Mama, Daddy, Big Daddy, Mimma, Marmie, Poppie, Aunt KK, Uncle Cody, Uncle Cal, Aunt Jamie, God, Jesus, and sometimes I list some of his friends. This is a tradition that I got from my mom that she used to say to me when putting me to bed at night. I think it is so important for my child to know that he has a family and friend's that love him very much.
He was so worn out from the weekend, he slept the whole way home! He also was tired because he had another ear infection, which I found out that week at the Pediatrician's office.
We had a great weekend visiting the family in Arkansas. It was so good to get to be with everyone!
The week after my birthday, the week of March 12th Mom and Dad came to visit for the week. Mom was on Spring Break and Dad came with her. Monday was interesting, Brody woke up with a 102 fever and a rash all over him. The day before I had taken him in for another ear infection and he had a little bit of a rash, but not much. At the time they thought it might be "Fifth's Disease." When he woke up on Monday it was starting to look more like "Hand, foot and mouth disease." I went to work that morning for the last time, and Mom and Dad kept Brody. He was pretty fussy all day and running a fever. I call the Doctor's office and they concluded over the phone that it sounded like the hand foot disease and there wasn't much I could do at the time except Tylenol and Advil for the fever. That night I put him to bed at 8:30 and he woke up at 10:30 burning up. I took his temperature and it was 105. 6. Mom gave him a lukewarm bath to try and get it down, and I called the Pediatrician's office. The nurse said to immediately take him to the ER so we took him to Vanderbilt Children's hospital. When we got there it was a packed house. Both ER waiting rooms's were full and there were people waiting in the hallway. We got there at 11:15 and were seen by a Doctor around 3-4 a.m. They explained to us that Monday night's are the busiest of the week. They said that most people put off taking their kid's in until after the weekend. Also we figured out there were a lot of people there that night that just took their kid's there because they didn't have insurance, so they take them to the ER because it is free.
We left around 5:30 after getting a chest xray done to check for pneumonia, and a urine test taken to check for a urinary tract infection. After both of those came back negative, we were discharged with the diagnosis that he had a virus that was causing the high fever and rash. So after a long night of not sleeping and after weeks of taking him to the Doctor, I decided to quit my job at Gold's Gym. As much as I liked the extra money, Brody getting sick over and over was getting really old. It was a hard decision, but ultimately I have to do what's best for Brody and I decided that this was it. Mom and Dad were such a blessing to have there that week because the night we went to the ER Phillip was in Kentucky for work and couldn't be there. He was so sweet and offered to come, but since Mom and Dad were here we decided he didn't have to. They provided so much support for me and help with Brody, I don't know what I would have done with out them! It was an answer to prayers to have them there that week. Even though Brody was sick we found a few fun things to do. One day Mom and I took him for a long walk in the stroller. At home Poppie played and played with him. His favorite to do with Poppie is let him pull him on a blanket around the living room.
This was sweet, Brody reached out and held his Marmie's hand on a walk.
This is a great picture of all of them. This was taken right before they left to go to Florence for a few days.
We had a great time with them and of course I was sad to see them leave!
Whew! That was a lot to post! We were fortunate to be able to travel a lot so far this year, but now it is really nice just to be at home for a while!
