The first weekend in April was my 10 year high school reunion! The fact that it has been 10 years since I graduated from high school is really hard to believe. In some ways it seems like yesterday. Then again in other ways so much has happened in the past 10 years, it does seem like a long time ago. I was very excited about my reunion. I had a great high school experience and had a very close group of friends. Two of my best friends today Rebecca and Emily are friends from high school. Most of my friends were going to be at the reunion, so Phillip and I decided to go! It was also going to be a great weekend to be with family. Jamie and Cal were going to be in town the same weekend because Jamie was in a friend's wedding. Needless to say we were so excited about the weekend!
On Wednesday, Brody and I flew to Texas. We left Nashville at 9:30 and flew into Dallas. Our flight was an hour and forty minutes. This flight was different than the other two we had taken. He is at the age now where I have to keep him entertained most of the time. I came prepared to do this. I brought books, toys, teethers, and my little DVD player with "Baby Einstein" DVD's. He did really well on the flights. He was probably most entertained by the people on the flight. So many people would talk to him, make faces at him, etc. He loved all the attention! I know that I am biased because he is my son, but everywhere we go people comment on how beautiful he is and how he has the most incredible eyes. I of course am so proud of him and love showing him off to people. The hardest part of flying is the fact that he misses his naps. Brody will not sleep in public. He only sleeps in the car or in his crib. This time he actually slept on the flight from Dallas to Waco which made a big difference. We had a slight layover in DFW. We ate lunch and looked out the window. Brody was fascinated watching the airplanes. I mashed up an overpriced banana for Brody and I ate the only thing in the terminal I could find under $10, a slice of Sabbaros pizza ( yuck).

Our flight to Waco was only forty minutes long. Brody actually fell asleep on the flight after I gave him a bottle. We arrived in Waco at 2:30 that afternoon. My dad picked us up and we headed to mom's school. ( she teaches 1st grade at Mtn. View Elementary in Waco). We surprised her and walked in right when she was walking her kids outside to wait for their parents to pick them up for the day. She of course was so excited to see us, in particular Brody. She took him around to several of her teacher friends to show him off. We had been to her school with him one time before but it was when he was 10 weeks old. He has changed quite a bit since then!
Upon leaving her school we headed home so Brody could have an early bedtime since he was worn out from traveling all day. Dad went to church that night since he had a class to teach.
We spent a little time at home playing with Marmie, bathing Brody, and then put him to bed.
Marmie has been collecting things at her house for Brody when we come. She now has a basket of toys for him to play with. He loved the ball most of all!
On Thursday Brody and I hung out at the house in the morning. Dad was home in the morning so getting to hang out with him was a lot of fun! He adores Brody and it was fun watching him interact with him. Brody seems to really like his Poppie too!

Around noon Brody and I headed to Austin! We went to visit one of my best friends Emily. Her and her husband Spencer moved there last year and I hadn't seen their new house yet. We were also going because Phillip was flying in to the Austin airport Thursday night. It was a lot of fun driving down there. That may sound strange, but one of the things that I miss about working for Wrigley was all of the driving that I got to do. It was fun to get to drive and see the beautiful Texas country side. I just love Austin and all of the beautiful rolling hills! If Phillip and I were to every move back to Texas, Austin would be one of the places that I would love to live.
Emily's house was beautiful! She had just planted beautiful flowers in the front and they looked so good! It motivated me to want to go home and work on our flower beds! It was so fun just getting to hang out with her all afternoon! I miss Emily so much and she is the type of friend that I would love to hang out with everyday. She is that the type of friend that when you leave her you just feel happier and feel like she made you a better person. It was so also fun getting to see her sweet dog Bailey!
We went to a neat outdoor shopping center near her house to get yogurt. It was so beautiful outside and the weather was really warm. It was the perfect day to eat delicious yogurt outside.
We had a lot of fun going to different stores and just walking around. That night we met Spencer and ate wonderful mexican food. One of the top things that I miss about Texas and that I can never get enough of it Tex Mex!
Late Thursday night, Jamie and Cal got in town. Friday morning we got to see Jamie, and then she was off to do her duty as a bridesmaid. The rest of the day it was me, Phillip, Brody, Mom and Cal. Dad left Friday morning for San Antonio for a retreat he was speaking at.
Cal, soon to be Uncle Cal ( August 6th) is so great with Brody. We are so excited about him becoming part of our family, we love him!
Cal, Phillip, Brody and I went down the street to the First Baptist Church of Lorena and played on their playground. Cal and Phillip had a friendly game of one of one in which Cal dunked several times haha Phillip only wishes he were 6'8 and could dunk. :) We had a lot of fun. It was so warm outside, we just couldn't waste the day away being inside.

Saturday morning began our 10 year reunion festivities! We started the day eating breakfast with some good friends at Rico. It's a small hole in the wall mexican place that has great breakfast burritos. We used to go all the time in high school, it is right down the street from the school. A lot of our group of friends came to that. We had so much fun getting to catch up. This weekend reminded me that I was so blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends in high school. They were all great people that really helped make me a better person in so many ways. I grew so much with my walk with God in high school and a lot of that is due to these friends. I have so many special memories with them that I will cherish always! It was so good to get to see all of them and introduce them to Brody and Phillip.

Brody stayed with his Marmie and took his morning nap while we went to breakfast. We went home to get him ready to go to the reunion picnic.
The picnic was for the graduates and their families. It was fun getting to see everyone and meet their kiddos. One of my best friend's, Rebecca and her husband Michael couldn't make breakfast because their were meeting their new niece! They were at the picnic and it was really good to see them. I hadn't seen them since Christmas when they spent the night at our house on the way to Baltimore.
Saturday night we had a reunion event that took place at the Hilton in downtown Waco. Before the event our friends met at Ninfa's across the street and hung out for a while. We had dinner at the Hilton and had a lot of fun!

Sunday afternoon Phillip flew out of Killeen and the rest of us just hung out at the house all afternoon. Jamie and Cal left that night to go back to OKC. It was so good spending the weekend with them. We are so thrilled for Cal to become a part of our family in August!
Sunday evening, we did a Texas tradition and took family pictures in the bluebonnets. I loved how these turned out!
