Brody 16-17 Months Old

Our little guy turned sixteen months old on December twenty sixth, and seventeen months old on January twenty sixth. He continues to grow and change more and more every month. It is such a blessed to watch him as he is developing. He does so many things that make us laugh, smile, become very frustrated, and through it all we fall more in love with him all the time. Here are several things that Brody is doing now, some of his favorite things, and a basic overview of what life has been like during his 16-17 months of life.
     - Brody favorite foods are; bananas, grapes, crackers, greek yogurt, any kind of bread, pizza, pasta, peas, corn, apples, yogurt covered raisins, any kind of sandwich, cheeze it's, waffles, black beans, grilled cheese, quesadilla, just to name a few. He mainly drinks water, crystal light lemonade, or whole milk. I let him drink apple juice when we go out to eat. He is funny about some foods because if he has a hard time swallowing them they will just sit in his mouth forever! For example he does this with lunch meat, the skin of grapes or blueberries, ground turkey or beef, etc. He is a really good eater! He has gotten to the point where he can point at food and grunt/whines to communicate that he wants it. There are these squeeze it pouches of fruit and veggies on the baby isle in the grocery store. They are like a dollar a piece and sometimes I will let him eat one of those while we walk around the store. The other day in Kroger I made the mistake of going down the baby isle, he saw the pouches pointed to them and started whining. It was so funny, I didn't know that he knew where they were in the store or what they looked like! So I got him one and he sucked on that thing the whole time we were at Kroger!
      - His favorite toys to play with at home are his kitchen, a plastic ball he has figured out how to throw and he can say "ball." He also likes his ride on toys, He likes to knock down his blocks, he hasn't quite figured out how to stack them up more than two and he is ready to knock them down again! He is getting interested in coloring. I bought a coloring book the other day and was trying to show him how to do it. He sees the kids at the gym kid's area coloring a lot so that is where he learned how to do that. He loves instruments, his favorite are the drums, he likes to dance to music, that is one of his favorite things to do. Brody is very into anything electronic, he loves phones, ipad's, computers, cords, anything like that. He also loves trucks, tractors, anything with wheels. Reading is still one of his favorite things to do. He is perfectly content to sit by himself and read, or he will bring me or Phillip books to read to him.
      - His favorite TV shows are Sesame Street, Mickey Mouse, anything Elmo, Dora the Explorer, and Clifford.
      -  He is usually a really happy little boy, but he is a determined kid. When there is something that he wants he makes it very clear, also when he is told not to do something, it usually takes several spankings to get him not to do it. Even though disciplining him gets exhausting I know it will pay off.

Here are a few random shots of Brody.

He is mad in this picture because I make him sit on his bottom instead of letting him stand up. This is because he has fallen off of this chest before when he was standing on top of it.

I just love my blue eyed boy!

He loves ride on toys!

Playing in the backyard on the slide.

Brody enjoying his new "anywhere chair" from Pottery Barn kids.

In the gym daycare he is obsessed with the baby swings. It's kind of funny that he likes them so much!

On a playdate with Asher, Price, and Reed. This is at Monkey Treehouse. He loves playing there!

At the end of January we went to Birmingham to visit our dear friends Brandon and Sheree, and their kids Camryn and Mason. Camryn is 4 and Mason is 2. Brody had a great time playing with them. This is a picture of them at the mall waiting in line to ride the carousel.  We are so thankful for their friendship and miss them so much! We are glad that they are only a few hours away so we can see them pretty often.

-He has had three haircuts so far. His first one was at Super Cuts, then I found a barber shop down the road that Phillip used to go to and now I take him there. They do a much better job at giving him a haircut that looks like a little boy even if they are a little pricier.

- We are teaching Brody that he should fold his hands when we pray. It is so cute and just melts my heart so much when he does it. We are also trying to teach him to pat the Bible. His favorite Bible story is out of his baby Bible story book and it is called, " The No-No Fruit." It is basically a short story of Adam and Eve. He won't let us read any other story except for that one.

- I am now working at the gym that I go to a few mornings a week. It has been good for Brody to go with me. He has gotten used to being around other kids. We have been able to work on things like sharing etc.
- Some of the outings that we enjoy include going to the playground in our neighborhood ( we usually go with our neighbor and friend Kristie and her son Hudson), going to indoor play areas with friends such as "Shipwrecked," "Monkey Treehouse," etc. We also like to go to the mall and play on the indoor playground.

I love my little boy more than anything in the whole world and am enjoying watching him grow more and more. I eat up every moment of him showing me love such as hugging me tight around the neck or giving me a slobbery kiss. He is a gift from God and we are so thankful for him. Looking forward to what 18-19 months has in store for us!
