Brody's 24-28 months has been full of surprises, changes, new beginnings, and overall our little boy growing up more and more.
First off, here are a few of Brody's favorite things.
1. Movie- Toy Story, Cars,
2. TV Shows- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Leap Frog, Fireman Sam, Little Einsteins.
3. Foods- Mexican, Italian, Granola bars, Lemonade, Apples, Peanut Butter, Grapes, Popsicles, Cookies, he loves dipping anything in ranch dressing or ketchup.
4. Things he sleeps with- Woody stuffed animal, Mickey stuffed animal, 2 little balls, 1 truck, stop sign from his train table.
5. Activities- Playing basketball, playing trains, cooking things in his kitchen for mommy and daddy, playing outside in the backyard with sticks and balls, using his toy tools pretending like he's building things. He loves wrestling with his daddy, playing hide and go seek, playing with his cars, and jumping off of things.
6. School- He goes to school at Middle Tennessee State University's Child Development Center. It is wonderful! He has grown and developed so much because of his time spent there. His teacher is Ms. Z along with several MTSU students that are doing their student teaching in his class. The curriculum is excellent, and we are very happy. He attends Monday and Wednesday afternoon's from 1-3:30.
7. Sleeping- Around the first of January Brody started jumping out of his crib. He never hurt himself, he just got out, came to the top of the stairs and exclaimed " Mama, Daddy!" He was so proud of himself and his accomplishment. From that point forward we started the process of transitioning to the "Big Boy Bed." For the next couple of weeks we did quite a bit of big boy bed training, which included sitting outside of his room, putting him back in bed, many spankings, taking away toys etc. Finally after a few weeks he was fine. Now if he gets out of bed we take away one of the toys that he sleeps with in bed. This method has really seemed to work. If anything, he is sleeping better in a big bed than he was in the crib. He goes to sleep between 7-8 p.m. until 7-8 a.m. and takes a nap on school days from 11-12:30, and other days usually 11-12:30 or 1. When he comes out of his room he always says " I slept in my big boy bed!" He is always so proud!
8. Things he mentions often- He has certain people that he wants to call frequently, Poppy, Big Daddy, etc. When we are going over to different people's houses, he loves to talk about them all the way there and all the way home. He has started to say things like I miss you, I love you, he points out everything he sees when we are driving, he repeats everything, he hardly ever stops chattering.
9. Precious moments- He hugs and kisses me on the lips constantly and says " oh mama!" He talks about his Daddy all day, asking when he is going to get home. He is his Daddy's biggest fan. It is so sweet when we gets out of bed and says " Mama I sleep in a big boy bed."
He is a big helper, lets the dogs outside to go potty, gives them a treat, will go get things that I ask him to like diapers, his drinks etc. He is so sweet to other kids, very empathetic when kid's get hurt, and has a very tender heart.
10. Sizes- He wears a 2T, a 3T in some stuff, a size 9 shoe and it won't be long before he's wearing a 10. He weighs 35 pounds.
11. Personality Traits- Brody is so much fun, he gives 100% to everything he does, isn't scared of much except masks, and people in costumes. He is quiet and a little withdrawn in situations unfamiliar to him, but it doesn't take him long to get comfortable, once he likes someone such as an adult he is obsessed! He observes situations quite a bit, is extremely active and doesn't hardly ever stop moving. He is excited about things that he loves and goes full on all the time. Brody continues to be very strong willed and opinionated. He is funny and very expressive. I just adore my sweet little 2 and 1/2 year old and love watching his personality grow and develop the older he gets.
